Oh, snap!
There is absolutely no hurrying after simple arthroscopic knee surgery. Only the essential is possible. A certain number of steps to get ice, another set of steps to walk the puppy (“yes! Hurry up!”), once down the stairs in the morning, back up (way up) at the end of the day.
When my partner of 32 years also needed the same surgery (on his right knee as well) within a two week timeframe, all that anticipated time garnering sympathy and attention must be parceled out.
It’s a good thing I know how to rest. Fully, comfortably and easefully.
Ha. No, I really don’t. I think I need to be scurrying around, being productive. Getting all the things on my ever-growing to-do list checked off.
Yet…my only job is to heal. Slowly, at my body’s own pace, with the steadying assistance of my physical therapist and my own efforts.
It’s a No Hurry Zone. Breathe in slowly. Breathe out restful, peaceful healing.
